Yeah I have had a talk with this player about how do ban and sorta how long bans should be and how to do them ECT but it is good that you said you might have messed up.

Because a lot of trial mods think making a mistake is bad and they will get demoted but that's not the case. Because if you get caught knowing that you must stop and trying to lie about that you didn't it's going to be more of a problem than actually telling because but you telling shows that you're mature enough to say that you've made a mistake and you understand that you want the best and not trying to hide it so that way you will not get demoted (they wouldn't but but that's their thought)
