About the raiding defense radius.
Unread postPosted:October 6th, 2018, 9:37 am
I have just been (fairly) banned for responding to a raid in which DeeTee and MattCobra were the raiders, with the punishment being 12 hours to re-read the rules. The situation involved me moving around through the west of Seattle onto the overpass and taking down MattCobra, who was on the stairs of the third floor of the brown apartment building, using a Grizzly. This kill was ~75 metres away, meaning it was 1.5x the allowed defense radius for raiding.
Now, the reason I create this post is to question the 50 metre limit. I understand that there is required to be a limit in order to prevent raiders killing everyone in the immediate area, and to prevent cross-map sniping. I get that.
However, I refuse to believe that 50 metres is enough to cover all bases. It hinders the use of police snipers to stop raids even though there is a police sniper kit able to be accessed by VIPs and above. I killed Matt with a Grizzly at what seemed like a completely reasonable distance- 75 metres- using a sniper rifle and it reliably stopped one raider. I had previously used /news and ensured that I was shooting who I was certain to be the raiders (we had encountered each other before so I recognised his appearance).
Anyway, the fact is that it effectively put one raider out of the fight, which is what the police are supposed to do in response to a raid. In summary, the 50 metres is extremely restrictive on the police's actions when attempting to stop a raid. I suggest it be increased to 75-100 metres to allow for more diverse police tactics, or implement a rule in which raiders can only kill people within the immediate vicinity and (obviously) retaliate upon distant police officers.
I accept my ban as I did not know this rule, being an old player who needs to re-read them. That is what I will do with these last 12 hours before I am back tomorrow.
