Recently, I've been going through declined staff apps/accepted staff apps. A lot of them have many people -1'ing them but they still get accepted, vice versa. I think staff apps should work in the same way as police apps, the admins vote being the mayor's vote (3+/-). The poll would run for a certain amount of time. Staff can check if players that voted in the poll have the same ip as the person applying/someone that voted.
Ex:
I made a staff app. 3 people gave me -1's, but 5 people and the admin's upvoted me. I have 3-'s, and 8+1's. 2 weeks later, I have 4 -1's and 11 +1's. I get accepted.

Or we could have waves where RP staff vote on who they want and who would be good for the community in a separate staff thread. So like 1 or 2 acceptance waves per month where each RP staff member votes.

I believe it should still be up to the Admins to decide as allowing RP Staff to vote for staff could potentially turn into a very biased situation. I could see only the people that the mods know best becoming staff not the people who actually write good applications and have experience and so on. Since the Admins don't really RP the majority of time they are most likely not going to know the person fully in which only their application and a few in game appearances help the Admins decide if they are fit to become staff.

I agree that -1's and +1's dont say anything but they give a good "feeling" of how others see the person applying.
If you;d take a look at my application http://pandahut.net/forums/viewtopic.ph ... 27s#p14252 you'd see i got a shit ton of -1's but still managed to get Trial-Mod.

I think that the reason we let the community +1 or -1 is to get a feel about how the player base feels about the player applying. If we did this, a bunch of mods could +1 it, but then the community would have no say in it.

In my opinion the community shouldn't have a say in it whether the person becomes Moderator or not, they can however explain why he should or should not be tasked with the Duty of Moderator. This should be entirely up to the Higher Ups.

The system we use is good as it is and has never got us into any trouble. Afcourse they were some bad apples wich got demoted but still that's why we call it Trial-Moderator. Why change something that is perfect? My mother didnt wanna change me. :P
