(this is based on an old suggestion)
If we were to add bank robberies to the server, where would the money come from?

The town balance, that's where. But there's a small problem with that which is what if the town balance is lower than how much someone gets from the bank? The simple fix is to make it so that the town balance is never low, with a thing called taxes.

The main idea is that: items have a base tax of say, 1%, but the mayor can set the tax to a variable amount for certain items, up to 20%. Let's say the bank has been robbed a few times and the mayor isn't happy. He can increase the tax on a few items and try and regain some of the balance back. I'm not sure if this suggestion could actually work with the current plugins/unturned, but hey, it's a suggestion at least.

Although it is a good suggestion, i don't think the choice to raise or lower the taxes should be given to the Mayor. If the Mayor decides to raise the tax even by 1% public opinion would be against it.He would stay till the end of his term but probably never elected again. Also if one of the candidates promised that they would lower the taxes they would get most of the votes. The problem is that people value their money much more in their pockets than it being spent on public sector projects or robbed from the bank by some random player.
The raise on taxes should be decided automatically by a plugin (if town balance is low) or by the Staff.

Thats how it works irl too? lol

+1, great idea

If necessary the mayor should always need to give a 1-day announcement about the tax increases / decreases + permission by the admin.

No, no it's not.
See, IRL the mayor doesn't get to pocket as much of the town balance as they feel like...

Its not about just keeping the money... Its all about creating an economy. People for example rob the bank, mayor loses some money. What to do? Increase taxes on for example high caliber weapons by 10% to decrease people raiding it & if they do so, they gotta pay up for it!

Tutorial how to ruin balance and economy:
Step 1: make post like that.
Step 2: balance and economy are ruined!

I can tell many things that dont work here, starting from bank robbery, i dont think i need to explain why this will not work.
But lets even say, taxes and bank robberies are added. And lets say, there is a mayor that picked up to 120% at the start of his "mayoring".
So everything costs now 120% of his normal price. Chart costed 100? Now its 120. Ik its not big change, right? And now lets say, a hells fury or something. 10k normal price. But, you need to pay 12k.
(2k goes to mayor btw.)
Vault. Lets say, #13 has 100%, and #10 has %120. All vips can buy things on 13, and then even sell it for 120% on 10 with ussage of vault. Can normal player do it?
Ill dont even talk about new players. 500 at start. But even a damn chart costs 120 bamboo. Good gun like 300.
Brylyth, increasing 10% of high calibers. Will he just need to say to Mushy, "can you change all hcg to cost 110% please? Thanks!" And Mushy needs to find all ids and change price?
Or does he needs a list with all id's, and then from 0% to 20%? That will take long, man.

Whilst I disagree with the mayor being able to change the taxes price at will, I’m a two time mayor and I can speak for most mayor’s when we say that sometimes (especially on 13) the towns balance can be slow. I do think that even now, things are too cheap. Think about it like this.

I propose a 10% or 20%xt commission on everything (exception being berries because like, duh - why would tthe mayor tax berries?) and that money goes tx the town balance. This money won’t even be much on its own, consideringx I spend at least 3K on my weapon t and I’d probably spend 3K buying 10 things. As for the hells fury argument - if you’re buying hells fury’s you should have enough to pay taxes.

Having been mayor once, this is complete bullocks.
I'd wake up every morning with an extra 15k in the town balance.
I was at a point of giving away money to any cop that was online, because there was literally not enough to spend it on.
Besides, would you really expect criminals to pay taxes?
Heck, the aforementioned Hell's Fury is (usually) illegal, so shouldn't be taxed, like berries?

And taxing police for their gear? It's already a long-shot for them to have to have to get their own equipment if they aren't throwing money towards pay-to-win, or want something better than a Kopis.

And further to this...
Businesses don't get taxed when they buy merchandise. Taxes are taken when the business sells to an end-user.

So the best you can argue is to require every weaponsmith and mechanic to hire an accountant...

Great Idea! but as brylyth said, criminals wouldn't pay taxes,
plus, this just seems like a sure way to guarantee multiple economy crashes (if they could even get up from the last one) from mayors going to power hungry (trying to regulate certain items criminals are known for using) and disrupting the balance that exists, not to mention the potential exploiting you can do with this (as said above).
P.S: If those who couldn't understand the sarcasm of my first sentence, shame on you. If it wasn't obvious enough, this is a completely terrible idea lmao
