Keep in mind that some stuff does not need to be listed specifically in the rules as you can use common sense for them. For example, if you ran into someone's house, stayed for 3 warnings, ran back out then immediately ran back in so they would have to reset their warnings, it would be considered trolling since you know there's nothing specific in the rules saying that you can't run out and back in to a players house forcing them to reset their warnings, angering them to the point where they would "KOS" you for "not giving 3 warnings." Also I won't lie I have met some mods who seem as though they are only out to become a mod for bragging rights, whether it was intentional or not.

This is an interesting ban appeal format.

As a child, you hit your sibling/another person and are told that it is wrong. For some children, that is enough. For others, a punishment is needed. Some children think that just a stern talking to wasn't enough to stop them from doing it again. This is why parents give negative reinforcement. To show the child that negative things occur when they put out something negative in the first place.

This relates to players and especially new players in Pandahut. Sure we have a rule set that we recommend you read and some players read the rules and understand not to do any of the punishable offenses. Other new players either never saw the rule (like a young child) or they decided to disobey. This is why we first give a small punishment and a reminder to go refer to the rules (Explaining to a young child why x is wrong). And if the problem persists. The punishment increases to a more severe one. (Like being Grounded or given a timeout as a young kid). If we didn't have punishments for what some users may call "insignificant" then the problem will persist and grow until it is something that is out of our control aka mass kos etc and would obv result in a perma ban. This is what we want to avoid in the first place. And is why we have short bans for mild infractions.

I hope this made it easier to see why we enforce certain punishments for certain infractions.

As for the power hungry staff idea: I do agree myself that some users become staff for the power and dont actually want to help or dont have a passion for doing so. This is why we have the trial mod position. So we can sift/filter out the good from bad. The good go on to be high ranking staff. The bad sink to the bottom leading to demotion. I understand where you come from though. I have seen multiple occurrences where staff have acted inappropriately. And have then proceeded to be warned/striked in an effort to improve their behaviour/give them another chance.

The people who do play these servers are not so young as to not be able to understand the basic concept of punishment. They are told before and after they enter the server to read the rules so they can better understand how the role play system works on Pandahut. If they blatantly choose to disobey the rules, that's their fault, they shouldn't be given minor punishments for that. It's like saying if I were to break someone's window with a baseball, they only gave me a half assed statement telling me that's it's ok since it was obviously an accident. Now the second time I did it I would get a much more severe punishment, but the damage from the first time is already done. If you were to give a full ban the first time, that reduces the chances of the same thing happening again with the player thinking they'll get the same 15 minute to 1 hour ban. It also lets them know the server is a no bullshit kind of place and filters out the trolls from the serious role players. Now if they have questions about a specific rule or set of rules, they always have the ability to contact an admin through adminh. If a player had a question and there were no moderators online, that is not the players fault, so they would assume something is right even if it's wrong since no one is there to let them know, except for the players, who can be illinformed and spread that misinformation sometimes. That is when I think a new player should be allowed a "new player ban" or a warning.

So lets say im a new player. (According to your scenario) I come on to try to learn and experience roleplay. I didnt know there was a rules command. so i kill a few players thinking im creating some roleplay situation. Boom perma ban. Never learned and never get to play on ph rp ever again. Do you see my point at all? I cant tell you the numerous amount of times i have used the linkrules cmd on new players or have informed players that there is a rule page as they were unaware in the first place.

Additionally. There are 2 positives to giving a first time shortban/warning. Lets say a player kos'd. We give them a short ban to read the rules. Maybe they become a dedicated PH rp'er that supports the server and donates and contributes. The person who was kos'd gets restored, no harm done. Player decides to kos again. This clearly means they dont have an intention to rp and will be severely punished. and or increasingly punished based on the playertime in game. Once again, the victim is restored. No harm done to the community.

Ok! So I get that you ban people for certain things HOWEVER. The staff never stop for one second, think about the situation, think about the person as an individual, judge their reaction to the situation and then act accordingly.

I met some kid who blew up my car, I called for a staff member, they heard what I had to say. The kid was honest and said he did and started crying and said he was really sorry and wouldn't do it again. The staff member still banned them. I asked them to unban the guy as it was clear that he was genuinely sorry, the staff member said "Sorry but it's a bannable offence." I still feel bad for the kid and he hasn't returned since the ban so I assume he quit. The staff just need to learn to not just know what happened but to understand what happened and why. They never ask you "Why did you do this?" they just say "You are being banned for *offence*"

The old staff they would always talk to you, try and understand what you did and why. If appropriate for some a ban was issued, for most? Their talks were enough to change them. If they didn't change? They got the ban. It was better to see how the community thrived and not how they suffered.

Some staff are more expierenced than others and the ways you probably see one being superior than another is because some trails are trail for 1-3 months like me :/ Anyways new trials come along and sometimes higher ranks aren't on so they help each other out.
