Hello there,

Just placing this suggestion here to see the community feedback on this plugin, recently Nelson added an important feature towards creating a Building restriction plugin, now what this plugin does exactly is the following:

- Restricts the amount of structures and barricades (you can set a different limit to barricades and a different limit to structures) that can be placed per player (This feature has the capability of having different restrictions based on a group / role, such example being donators being allowed to place more structures or builders being allowed to place an infinite amount etc., this would all be up to whatever Mushy/Miku decide if they were to ever think of adding this plugin to RP)
- Restricts the amount of buildables that can be placed on vehicles (Such as restricting 100 cage lights to be added to a vehicle to cause even more lag)

Now from my personal opinion there's both upsides and downsides to adding this, some of which are the following:

- Will highly increase the amount of time given before a wipe has to commence on the RP servers.
- Will moderately reduce the amount of lag on the RP servers.
-Will remove the huge confusion that comes from this certain RP rule:
Code: Select allThe maximum size for a base is 4(width) x 4(length) x 3(height).
People can of course still build bigger than that depending on the set maximum amount of structures / barricades that Mushy/Miku decided on although it will highly affect those that build a slightly bigger base as they will be unable to build anymore further decreasing the chances of a player creating a base that could potentially cause lag.
-Will cause more confusion to certain players
-Might annoy some players as they are unable to build as much as they did before

Now this plugin has already been created and can be obtained by Mushy/Miku very easily therefore no work will have to be put towards this without the fact that the higher-ups will have to come to a conclusion on what would be a good amount to set as the maximum limit (50,100,150,200 etc.). This of course is entirely up to the higher-ups if they want to even consider adding although I thought it's good to add it on the pile of suggestions to hopefully reduce some of the issues on the RP servers.

Some people actually make a living off building a house and selling the door/window to another player.
Not only that but I also tend to rebuild the regions quiet often. Those restrictions will start to apply against me.

Now here comes the argument of “you shouldn’t be building near the cap”

I make some of my money off building another person a house. And giving them the doors and windows. I agree this plugin could be useful. But the downsides are also in my opinion going to our way the pros.

Not only that but I also tend to rebuild the regions quiet often. Those restrictions will start to apply against me.

Now here comes the argument of “you shouldn’t be building near the cap”

I make some of my money off building another person a house. And giving them the doors and windows. I agree this plugin could be useful. But the downsides are also in my opinion going to our way the pros.
Yeah that was the main concern when I saw this plugin, but as already stated above, the plugin is permission based therefore you can put a different limit to every role if wanted, meaning you can simply allow builders to have a higher limit or even allow them to have no limit causing no issues with your problem.

As for the regions issue, same thing applies. You can simply allow admins/supermods or anybody involved into such things to have no limit on building.

I had written a long post on here raising some concerns, though I may have forgotten to hit the submit button.

The main point behind it was that although this plugin sounds good on paper, what happens when a builder switches to a different role? Would nearly all the bases built by them be destroyed? I’m assuming they would simply be unable to place down anything else until their structures get destroyed.

There doesn’t seem to be a command to check how many structures you have left to place, and it’s worrying to think that given RP maps are reset every month or so, anyone who picks the builder role would only be able to use it once until the map is reset again or the bases they built eventually get raided or destroyed. They could eventually switch roles and raid the bases they built, either intentionally or because the builder role is no longer useful to them, since they reached their building limit.

In practice, this plugin would serve to delay the time required to reach the same amount of clutter we currently experience. This is good in the sense that map resets would be less frequent, though at the cost of nerfing the builder role.

Pleblo reminded me that for a very brief period of a few days about a year ago, we had a similar plugin in place, which broke after an Unturned update right after we added it. I don’t remember whether it caused any issues and complaints, although it was in place for such a short period that it would be hard to use it as reference for how successful this addition would really be.

We could experiment with it, as some aspects of it can only truly be assessed by actually implementing it. A community vote would likely not be passed, although there are some decisions that really come down to a more technical level that can only be fully understood from an administrator’s perspective.

We’ll get the plugin and mess around with it on the RP test server along with RP Staff members to check for any major issues with it. You’re free to join us Ragna.

That is a fair point, I did think on what would happen if group X has a limit of 500 and they built 500 but then they swap to group Z which has a limit of 400, either it removes it or you set it to not allow those people to build until they are below 400, its a bit tricky for builders I agree. And yes that plugin was created a while ago by a dev that let us down although in the recent patch notes a feature regarding salvaging was added into unturned making this plugin doable, no wonder why trojaner's people quickly caught onto it and released it. And sure I'd be more than happy to come on and test it with you guys, glad youre giving it a try, just shoot me a message when you'd like me to join, cheers!

This is not the direction in which to fix this problem as there are WAY to many varibles


ways to help fix the problem could be:
  • limit building in Seattle/Alberton
  • limit or remove farming
  • wipe higher population areas of a map more frequently
