Hello pandas,
as you may well know, the police higher up system and the way on how you get the ranks was defined more than a year ago by Dutchy but i believe it is in need of reform with additional requirements being necessary to ensure that the servers have the best police. The current system only requires a candidate to get a number of votes and then get their rank. There needs to be better checks to ensure only the best and most qualified get the job and i will be proposing the following amendments to this RP statute :[/i]
Stage 1 of the application process for chiefs and deputies:
Applicants must reach their respective vote threshold as set out by Dutchy
Stage 2 of application process for chiefs and deputies:
Applicants must be interviewed by either the mayor or one of his Captains to make sure that the applicants knows the police rules very well as well as asking him what he would do in certain situations. The interview would be failing and candidates would have to achieve a certain grade. This would also give Captains more power and a say on who will get into the police. They will also be debrefied on their powers and what they can/not do.
For Captains, the process will be exactly the same but instead of another Captain interviewing them, the mayor would interview them.
The mayor's power of +3 should also be taken away at the initial voting stage since more power will be granted during the 2nd stage.
This gives more jobs to roles as well as ensuring police are not corrupt but are professionally equipped.
I want to hear feedback on this proposal and i hope they are considered.

it's smart making it harder..only yesterday was a chief demoted for corruption..the day after his app was accepted i want a police force that is fully trained and i have experience in other games such as arma police rp and you are required to undergo an interview.

I mean, I like the idea, but this really just isn't how Pandahut works.
You'd be making it easier to become a moderator than a police officer, which is a deeply disturbing idea.

Further to this, you'd be adding a pre-requisite to ranking of being on when the mayor/chief is on.

Even further to this, there are times where there is no mayor / no active mayor.

I wouldn't be surprised if the aforementioned interview in Arma 3 RP was with staff, rather than a tiny select group of high-ebough ranked cops.

Interviews are high - stress, and force one of yourself to adjust your schedule (usually).

Considering how Chiefs get worse kits than Vippluspolice, and the exact same powers as SWAT, there's no real reason to make Chief harder to reach unless you're TRYING to keep non-weapons contraband on the street.

You mentioned a Chief being demoted - sure! Demote them! But I doubpt that they'd caused any more harm than a SWAT officer could.

Generally, folks get demoted if they should be while they're chief, and interview as you may your clidea of having a "fully trained" police force would involve somehow forcing every officer of any rank to spend hours working with you or your trainer.

Oh, and Mayoral -3 from 10 because this would have to be a conplete rules change, and affect both servers, and I don't know about who goes after me, but I DON'T want to be the one acting as a gateway to police ranks. Police should do that, not elected officials.

an interview is not a problem to arrange and you're making it sound like a really big hassle when it really is not at all.

Captain's would also be allowed to interview, not only mayors.

High ranking cops conducted the interview, not staff.

Interviews are high - stress, and force one of yourself to adjust your schedule (usually).

There are many captains each of them having their own timezone, so i don't think this will be a problem plus the mayor obviously. I'm sorry but if someone can't handle the 'stress' of a simply answering questions i don't think they should apply for this role as you need to sometimes make quick decisions on the spot. Life is full of exams. Time to wake up and smell the coffee.

I have no problem allowing for a compromise here, maybe an interview should only be for a deputy or higher. I want to improve RP and make it so that the actual law-enforcement have more of a say in choosing future police. this isn't to do with me or you, this is to do with the future of roleplay.

not true, the interview wouldn;t be too long at all, it would only be to check they have an understanding of what that role entails and to see if they know how to act well under pressure.

this isn't about you and it isn't about me, this is an avante-garde idea which is about thinking about the future. This hasn't been changed in a year and i'm all about new ideas and reforming the system.

I like the idea, the approval of higher ranks will be required to get a certain rank, sounds good
Although the ones that interview the player that wishes to be promoted should be recording the interview, so there would be no bias, why the ones interviewing and not the ones that are applying? We can't force players that apply for a certain rank to record their interview, doesn't really sound right to me, so just like a captain needs proof that a base contains illegal items in order to raid the high ranks interviewing should have proof that the officer applying is not qualified for the job before denying their application. Not doing so should result in a warning / demotion.
