So with this forum, I sort of wanted to see where everyone sort of gauges their definitions of each 'RP style'. From My experience when employing my definition of 'Comedic RP' I tend to sometimes see toxic comments and even people claiming it is FRP. While I do believe there is a point where comedy becomes FRP I do think there's a line to which I wouldn't say I personally cross. I find it hard to sort of be engaged in a super 'edgy' as I call it 'sit down' of an RP where I roleplay a hitman with little to no backstory or character, in which to even create such a character without being defined as 'edgy' would be to make it comedic. However, this is where the argument comes into play how would I exactly do this in such a way where I wouldn't be viewed as FRP or 'edgy'.
So, the question REALLY is how is someone to develop and pose a 'real' character? Without the use of comedy or an extremely obnoxious edge lord persona who simply demands attention.
(Yes I do understand there is middle grounds but it ends up never being met or loses any real interest as you do sort of devolve into a generic meta-gamer who sub-consciously knows the rules of the RP and acts on them instead of the actual intricacies of society.)
I'm really interested in seeing everyone's general consensus on this and I'd love to discuss how this compares to maybe text-to-chat roleplay or where the line of FRP is drawn.
