Although to a certain extent I do agree with you but a lot of people still do use the mechanic role to make money etc but if police officers urgently need a vehicle same with any other role it would be hard to find a mechanic, for example while arresting someone if I need a police car I would have to keep someone cuffed and try to find a mechanic this is why I think it would not work.

As a police you should always have a car handy. Especially if you are patrolling and arresting people. If you must use another police officers car then return it later or have them come with you. You also should not be using the '/buy' command in an arrest because it is fail RP as you cannot do that in real life during an arrest.

I think cops and swat should be able to buy their own police vehicle. Every other role; not so much.

They could easily get a spawned in stealy from the mechanics shop and steal one and also stealys could have another use than taking high cost vehicles.

A lot of vehicles prices are between 450 and 800 and some others are higher than 1k (apc, boats, helis)
I am sure people can afford a 600 bamboo van
