Honestly giving them permission to drive a tank would rarely be used.

Hinds in raiding sits would be the best because you are to save the base not blow it to dust, although swat may do the ideas i listed Military could help with lockdowns an block off the roads an help police check others to pass. Military is fit for combat and serve to protect, they are more fit for gun fight battles, and if they police need back up with a kidnapping or any other situation were there.
