I was thinking, in order to nerf bandits and buff police...

Whenever a bandit commits a crime, his IGN is stored in the criminal record, which all police have access to. This would mean that a bandit's crime persists even after the crime in question is finished. The bandit's entry in the criminal record will only disappear when he has served his time/done retribution in other ways.

This would mean that all bandits which have done crimes will live under the constant fear of being arrested.

• A police arresting someone on the grounds of criminal record would use a custom command, like /crarrest. The command will only work if the criminal in question is in fact in the criminal record

• Doing /checkplayer will show if the bandit is stored in criminal record.

• This will give the police the joy of acting like hitmen, searching for the target, having cop chases and similar to get the bandit. It will add an interesting gameplay mechanic.

You can ofc tweak this to your liking if you decide to add it, for example make the entry disappear if it the bandit has been unpunished for like 5 days or so.

Great idea and a musthave!

Suggestion: But maybe RCMP's should need to write to an higher rank to get the guy on the CR, to prevent corruption?

This would be the ideal way of doing it, but there would be many more on the CR than higher-ranked police, meaning in essence that police officers would most of the time be sitting ducks.

Boi crimanal record is such a good idea, except for "can be arrested at any time" part. However a record is great, because say you are arrested for murder 5 times, then next time you are arrested for that your sentence is multiplied by 1.5/2. But maybe a common crime, say unlicensed weapon, then it takes 10 arrests for it to be doubled. And how about your double-able record resets every 2 days (?) but not your actual crimanal record, so it's there, but you cannot get your arrest time doubled, but your record can be checked by cops with /checkrecord <playername>.

Sorry dude, but that post was a trainwreck. Could you edit the post to show more clearly what you mean?

Whoops sorry. Yep what I'm trying to say is that you could get your arrest time doubled if you commited a crime to many times in the space of say, two days? And also all things you have been arrested for will be down permanently, for officers reference if they are not sure whether to risk that arrest or not.

programming-wise it would be really easy. The CR would be a simple array with key and value,, which gets appended to when a crim command is executed. the check player would be a simple array lookup.

On other games such as Arma 3 (ALRP) or Arma Life Roleplay has it so when a traffic stop or an arrest occurs the officer details the event in a separate log such as google sheets which will have all the information for example, Arresting Officer, Entry Date, Offence, Situation Resolved (Y/N). The ./carrest has no meaning as you can just simply use the arrest command and then detail it after in a logs file. However this might not work as normal everyday players may not care or just can't be bothered with logging it, while higher up roles such as Chief or Captain will log each arrest, It could be something for higher police.

I understand what you mean, but I can't see a good reason to use your suggested system over mine, other than vanity.

And as you said yourself, normal players wouldn't bother logging, and is just rather impractical. Those who would log it would be higher ranked police, but we all know how few high-ranks that are online at the same time. It would just render the concept rather stale.
